Learning Facilitator (Teaching Assistant)

Bristol Grade 8 £22,021 - £23,836 (Pro Rata),

Term time only, 20.5 Hours per week. 

Part-Time (3 Days a week), Fixed Term Contract  

(1st June 21 – 31st July 22)

 

We are looking for 6 outstanding and inspirational Learning Facilitators (Teaching Assistant) to work at Soundwell Academy. Soundwell Academy is a new Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)/ Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SCLN) school which opened in September 2020. The new permanent build will be completed by September 2021, which will be in Soundwell on the old Soundwell College site. The permanent build will be a state-of-the-art building designed for 136 pupils to receive the best education. The permanent build will have a number of vocational areas where the pupils can gain life and work skills. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team and be part of the first steps for this Academy. Learning facilitators are class based and will build great relationships with the pupils and support the pupils through the core values of the academy. 

 

Working Hours - TBC

Monday – 8:30 – 3:00 

Tuesday - 8:30 – 3:00 

Wednesday - 8:30 – 4:30 

Thursday - 8:30 – 3:00 

Friday - 8:30 – 2:40 

 

Start date: 1st June 2021. 

 

For this post you will need: 

  • to be willing to work with disaffected young people; 
  • to be able to motivate and engage young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties or Speech, Language and Communication needs; 
  • to be willing to support pupils managing their behaviour and promote positive behaviour;
  • excellent communication and organisational skills; 
  • to be able to rise to the challenge with a smile.

Residential Manager

Bristol Grade 10 SCP 24-28: £28, 772 -£32,234

(Actual Salary £24,964 - £28,065)

37 hrs per week, term time only

(plus allowances, sleep in and enhanced hours)

Full time, Permanent Contract

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager to join our short-stay residential provision at Soundwell Academy, an Academy for young people with SEMH, ASC, SLCN and a range of other complex needs. The Short stay residential is Mon-Thurs. The Short stay Residential provides short-stay residential opportunities exclusively for the students of Soundwell Academy helping them to work towards social/emotional, life skills, academic and attendance goals.

Our aim is to provide a safe and stimulating environment in which young people can be nurtured, motivated, can contribute to the community, improve their life skills, complete Home Learning assignments and broaden their experience through completing projects, attending events, going on trips and through encouragement to make healthy choices around food, exercise and their own personal care.

The short stay residential is an holistic provision encouraging positive behaviours and social norms through a well-developed rewards system and seeking to beneficially influence each guest’s experience of home and school life through experience of and participation in the norms of a well-structured and well-resourced provision that is safe, secure, happy and which stimulates learning.

Start date: 1st September 2021. 

 

For this post you will need: 

  • Minimum  1-2 yrs as registered manager of a residential provision for young people with SEN including SEMH, high risk and/or complex needs within the last 5 years.
  • In-depth knowledge of National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools.
  • In-depth and up to date knowledge of Childcare legislation and current safeguarding legislation including Child Protection.
